Geography
Antarctica is the earth’s southernmost continent.
Currently it is overlying the South Pole, but Antarctica hasn’t always been there, because of continental drift.
The Southern Ocean:
The ocean that encircles Antarctica.
The Southern Ocean is the name for the merging of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.
It is the world’s 4th largest ocean
Geography
People question why the Southern Ocean is a separate ocean instead of just being considered an extension of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. However, its water makeup is unique because of the Antarctic Circumpolar current.
