There are of course other marine and wildlife in the Antarctic from squid to various insects to crabs, variety of fish, etc.; in total there are about 17 different species of penguins and 35 different species of birds. Krill plays an important role in the ecosystem of the Antarctic, providing food and nourishment for all life in some form. Over fishing the krill will have “immense effects on dependent predators” (gristmill.org, Environmental News and Commentary).
